The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA), the storage industry's authority on Fibre Channel (FC) technology and standards, today announced that four new members have been appointed to the 2004/2005 Board of Directors. They are Werner Glinka, Hitachi GST, Harry Mason, LSI Logic Corp., Bill Schilling, Seagate Technology and Steve Wilson, Brocade Communications. The new members are filling vacancies on the Board and all four have accepted their appointments.

"During Fibre Channel's tenth anniversary as a standard, FCIA has seen the successful expansion of services to the storage industry and the Fibre Channel technology user," said Art Edmonds, Chair of FCIA. "From its continued support for Fibre Channel standards development, its flagship SANmark" test program, which grants registration to products that pass the SANmark badge of quality, its contributions to the expansion of industry research and knowledge, to its standards compliance and interoperability plugfests, FCIA is providing a point of excellence in the storage industry."
A recent press announcement made by FCIA was on the SANmark Qualified Test Provider Program, whereby third party test houses can qualify to provide SANmark testing to member and non-member company's Fibre Channel products.
The North American FCIA membership currently stands at 54 companies. In addition, the FCIA affiliate in Japan, FCIA-J, has 25 member companies, totaling approximately 80 companies worldwide.
