Recent announcements by FCIA include extending 4Gb/s Fibre Channel from an intra-cabinet storage device interconnect to switched SAN fabrics, announced June 3. The 4Gb/s advance will make possible the use of 4Gb/s speeds for both drive and network interfaces.
On July 28, the most recent SANmark™ Conformance Document (SCD), the SCD-4001 test suite addition was announced. Following on several earlier SCD test suites, the SCD-4001 conformance test suite defines tests to ensure that Fibre Channel end devices are discoverable and manageable by a wide range of storage area network (SAN) management applications.
