ALISO VIEJO, Calif., May 22, 2002 -QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC),
the company that simplifies storage area networks (SANs),
today announced that QLogics family of 2Gb end-to-end
SAN infrastructure products have been awarded "Innovative
Product/Technology of the Year" by the American Electronics
Association (AeA). The Orange County, Calif. chapter of the
AeA recognized QLogic for its one-of-a-kind family of complete
SAN infrastructure products, consisting of controller chips
for storage devices, silicon and SANblade host bus adapters
for servers and workstations and SANbox2 Fibre Channel network
switches.
"Were grateful to be recognized by the AeA for
the breadth of our product line and the benefits associated
with what that means to our customers," said Frank Berry,
vice president of marketing, QLogic Corp. "Weve
made it our mission to simplify SANs for our customers by
delivering not just one piece of the puzzle, but an entire
set of interoperable building blocks that allow OEMs, system
integrators and resellers to rely on open-standard, interoperable
connectivity solutions with superior performance."
All available from a single vendor, the QLogic 2Gb family
of SAN products allows OEMs, VARs storage service providers
(SSPs) and end-users to build cost-effective, plug-and-play
SANs that are centrally managed and highly available. Pre-tested
for interoperability and administered by a complementary management
software platform, QLogic's 2 Gb products allow OEMs and IT
professionals to immediately build cost-effective, plug-and-play
SANs capable of handling today's explosive increases in data
volumes. SANbox2 Switches
QLogic SANbox2 2Gb Fibre Channel network switches ensure complete
investment protection for current and future SAN infrastructures,
establishing new standards of performance, reliability and
simplicity. Available in 8-port and 16-port, slim form factors,
QLogic SANbox2 switches are the fastest, most scalable, and
easiest to manage Fibre Channel switches on the market. SANbox2
switches protect SAN investments by offering faster 1 Gb connections
for existing storage and server devices, automatically supporting
2 Gb devices as they are added to the network.
ISP2312 2Gb Controller Chips
Incorporated in hundreds of OEM-installed solutions, QLogics
ISP Fibre Channel single-chip architecture is installed in
a multitude of SANs industry-wide. It is designed for integration
directly into system boards, RAID controllers and host adapters,
including QLogics SANblade Fibre Channel host adapters.
QLogics ISP architecture embeds a highly sophisticated
layer of exclusively developed firmware based on years of
development and field experience. The ISP2312 chip is able
to deliver record-breaking throughput of up to 80,000 Input/Output
Operations per second (IOPs).
SANblade 2300 Series 2Gb HBAs
Based on the QLogic ISP2312 single-chip controller, SANblade
2300 Series are PCI/PCI-X, CompactPCI (cPCI) and SBus to 2Gb
Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters. Targeted specifically for
SANs and server clustering environments, the SANblade 2300
Series has been optimized for peak performance and real-world
scalability. The SANblade QLA2300 Series features support
for SCSI, IP, VI and FICON protocols and high reliability
for mission critical applications. Network Computing magazine
recently awarded the SANblade QLA2300 "Data Management
and Storage Technology Product of the Year."
QLogic 2Gb Peripheral Controllers
Embedded in disk drives, tape drives and other peripheral
devices, QLogic's FTEC and FibreFAS Peripheral Controllers
deliver flexibility and high performance. The FTEC series
of controllers provides all the advanced features required
by leading hard disk drive suppliers. Field-proven architecture
supports fast disk data rates and highly automated interface
logic enables high throughput with low drive microprocessor
overhead, maximizing overall performance. The FibreFAS family
of I/O controllers provides powerful Fibre Channel functionality
for new-generation Fibre Channel tape drives, and other peripheral
devices.
