PALISO VIEJO, Calif., June 18, 2002 -QLogic Corp.
(NASDAQ:QLGC), the company that simplifies storage networks,
today established a new standard for competitive Fibre Channel
host bus adapters (HBAs) with the launch of the QLogic SANblade
2340 Series, a family of 133MHz PCI-X products that double
storage throughput over standard PCI products. The SANblade
QLA2340 Series is the companys flagship line with an
extensive checklist of features and benefits that is unmatched
in the industry including:
- Highest-performance- up to 80,000 Input/Output operations
per second and more than 700 Mbytes of throughput
- Native support in all major operating systems including
Microsoft‚ Windows NT‚ and Windows 2000, Novell‚ NetWare,
Sun Solaris, Red Hat‚ Linux‚ and SuSE Linux
- QLogic SANsurfer« Toolkit software that includes simple
GUI management for point-and-click management, LUN masking
and failover features
- Single-chip ISP2312 architecture for increased reliability
and more compact, versatile design
- Single, dual and quad channel versions to maximize performance
and the use of precious PCI-X slots
- Support for new 133MHz PCI-X designs and unique legacy
support for PCI servers
- Multi-protocol support including Internet Protocol (IP)
for bridging SANs to LANs, FICON for IBM-compatible connectivity
and Virtual Interface (VI) for low latency clustering and
RDMA applications
- Common driver interface for PCI-X, PCI, cPCI and SBus
versions
- Support for 2Gb/second and 1Gb/second speeds
- Unique "bridgeless" dual channel HBA eliminates the severe
performance overhead of PCI-X bridges used in competitive
HBAs
"The 133MHz PCI-X interface greatly enhances bandwidth
and data flow and is a required feature in the leading-edge
servers that power the next generation of SANs," said
Kimball Brown, vice president of Business Development for
ServerWorks, a Broadcom Company. "QLogics first-to-market
position with this crucial technology in their SANblade QLA2340
Series HBAs gives them a competitive edge as customers look
to implement storage networks that tap into the true benefits
of this powerful interface."
Designed to serve leading server and storage companies that
have embraced the new 133MHz PCI-X standard, the SANblade
QLA2340 family of HBAs delivers double the throughput of the
66MHz PCI interface that is commonly found in server platforms
today. SANblade QLA2340 products were sampled to OEMs the
second half of last year, and are now being deployed by leading
OEMs. SANblade QLA2340 single and dual channel 2Gb 133MHz
PCI-X HBAs will also be available from authorized QLogic distributors
in July 2002. Pricing is expected to start at $1,495.
The QLogic SANblade HBA recently won two Network Computings
2002 Well-Connected awards. The SANblade 2300 was recognized
as best "Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter" and "Data
Management and Storage Technology of the Year." Network
Computing selected the SANblade Fibre Channel HBA because
of its superior driver implementation, ease of use and impressive
performance.
