San Antonio, Texas and San Jose, California¤May 14, 2002
-Amos Technology Group, an IT consulting firm and HP/Compaq
Enterprise reseller, and SANcastle Technologies, Inc., manufacturer
of the GFS-8, the worlds first multi-protocol
switch for integrating Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet
networks, announce a new solution for disaster recovery is
installed and operational at City Water Light and Power of
Springfield, Illinois.
City Water Light and Power (CWLP) needed a disaster recovery
solution for its IT systems. CWLPs Geographic Information
System (GIS), planning, outage management, and system inventory
were all at risk if a major catastrophe should strike its
primary Storage Area Network (SAN). By incorporating HP/Compaqs
Data Replication Manager (DRM) and SANcastles GFS-8,
Amos Technology provided a solution to CWLP that is simple,
cost effective and highly functional.
"CWLP is a municipal electricity and water distribution
company. Disaster means an entire community without power
or water," said Scott Dragoo, program manager, City Water
Light and Power of Springfield Geographic Information System.
"Amos Technology Group put together a fail over plan
that will allow us to keep the lights on. We are
extremely pleased with the SANcastle switches as well as the
overall DRM solution."
"DRM utilizing Internet Protocol (IP) is a leading edge
solution for disaster recovery. There are three IP solution
options available utilizing HP/Compaqs Data Replication
Manager," stated Jim Mahan, president and chief executive
officer, Amos Technology Group. "But, SANcastle is far
superior in both value and functionality."
"We are very pleased with the early evidence of the applicability
of the SANcastle GFS-8 in this market," said Peter Dixon,
executive vice president of sales and marketing, SANcastle.
"This solution showcases the strengths of both Amos and
SANcastle and we look forward to future business with both
Amos and Compaq."
The SANcastle GFS-8 is a true, multi-protocol, full-function
switch that seamlessly integrates disparate networks and protocols
and provides seamless bi-directional integration of Fibre
Channel and Gigabit Ethernet networks over long distances
without disruption or technology changes. It supports e-port
for inter-switch connectivity with other Fibre Channel switches;
creates autonomous regions to isolate and contain reconfigurations;
and, guarantees delivery and order of packets. This allows
not only remote connectivity, but also disparate island integration
for enterprises that have already deployed SAN islands.
