FalconStor and SANcastle® Collaborate On IP-Based Solution For Comprehensive Business Continuity

Cross-Certification Of IPStor Software And GFS-8 Multi-protocol Fabric Switch Provides Synchronous Data Mirroring Over IP

Melville, NY and Irving, TX August 13, 2002 -FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading provider of network storage infrastructure software, and SANcastle Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of fabric border switches, today announced the cross-certification of IPStor with the GFS-8 switch. The combination of products bridges remote Fibre Channel (FC) based Storage Area Networks (SANs) across IP networks with end-to-end Synchronous Data Mirroring for enhanced business continuity.

The SANcastle family of border switches with unique OpenIP™ architecture provide guaranteed delivery of data across optical networks – local or distant. FalconStor’s IPStor complements SANcastle’s switches by providing storage services such as synchronous mirroring, SAN-based services over Fibre Channel, IP/iSCSI, and NAS-based service over the NFS and CIFS protocols. Together, pools of local storage can now be managed and offered to servers while data is safely mirrored to storage that is installed miles away.

"Corporate storage assets are becoming increasingly complex and difficult to manage. Combine this with the need for long distance connectivity and these issues cause severe business constraints," said Peter Dixon, executive vice president, sales and marketing, SANcastle. "FalconStor allows customers to combine their geographically dispersed resources into a centrally managed pool, as well as simplifying management, accessibility and improving security, therefore, when deployed in combination with SANcastle’s GFS family of products, a true Virtualized IP infrastructure is achieved."

"Leveraging both IPStor and SANcastle switches, businesses can protect their storage assets across heterogeneous SAN environments with less management complexity and greater scalability," said Wayne Lam, FalconStor vice president of marketing. "This testing with SANcastle validates our commitment to bringing customers the most advanced enterprise storage management software for maximum information protection and rapid data recovery."

FalconStor and SANcastle’s fully tested, interoperable solution adds value to IT systems by providing a turnkey system capable of managing rapidly growing storage resources while offering seamless data replication and business continuance over existing IP network infrastructures.
