London, UK, 31st May 2006 -- The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Europe today announced that it has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) to expand the informational resources it currently offers its members, end users and the channel. Under the new agreement SNIA Europe will represent the FCIA in EMEA and in return the association will be entitled to obtain and present the latest updates on Fibre Channel technology as well as plans and roadmaps to the local markets. SNIA Europe will also be provided with marketing materials the FCIA produces for vendors, the channel and end users.
‘The FCIA is committed to the advancement and adoption of Fibre Channel technology and we feel that a stronger partnership with SNIA Europe is the most effective way to reach IT professionals throughout EMEA,’ said Tom Hammond-Doel, Chairman of FCIA. ‘This agreement is of great benefit to both associations as it increases our visibility outside the US and gives SNIA Europe direct access to the developments of Fibre Channel technology and any related materials.’
‘Although Fibre Channel is a mature technology it is still evolving to meet today’s and tomorrow’s requirements and hence European organisations will greatly benefit from a deeper understanding of this standard and how it can help them achieve their objectives,’ said Paul Talbut, Chairman of SNIA Europe. ‘SNIA Europe and the FCIA have a long history of collaboration and this agreement is the result of a successful partnership to date.’
